About Ellen

In 2001, I completed my Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine from Bastyr University. While there, I worked as a formulator in the Chinese Herbal Medicine Department and as a a clinical supervisor and adjunct instructor.

My post-graduate work includes extended clinical internships at Chengdu University Hospital and Shen Zhen Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a 2 year clinical apprenticeship 5-Element acupuncture. I have a Graduate Certificate in Strategic Management from Harvard University.

I am also the founder of Moxa NW, a project that designs and supplies innovative healing tools to practitioners and their patients.

When I started college my primary academic interests were Environmental Science and Public Health. I quickly realized that I wanted to have a hands-on impact. I moved to Seattle and began my pre-med studies at the Univerisity of Washington. It was an exciting time but during my first year of medical school, I was hit by a car. I suffered significant injuries to my lower body and legs. At the young age of 22, and at the peak of my health, I became the patient. At that time, I had never even heard of Acupuncture! But you can guess what happened next….

Principles of our work

Creativity

Medicine is about transformation. Whatever the starting point, change can happen. The highest principle of our work is that health care is most effective when the focus is on resonance not dissonance. We strive to use simple tools that respect nature’s creative power and the body’s innate ability to adapt and become stronger.

Integrity

Our highest priority is to help our patients meet THEIR goals. Strong diagnostic evaluation skills, a deep referral network and decades of experience that ensure our patients receive care that leads them quickly into transformation.

Quality

In our experience, Chinese Medicine is the most complete medicine available. We are dedicated to providing high quality and well sourced herbs and supplements. And are careful to provide a comfortable clinical experience.

Innovation

Integrative, functional medicine has become the standard of mainstream health care. Innovative treatment that combines Eastern and Western protocols for fertility, immunity, surgical rehab and preventive health offer patients the most incredible opportunities for healing.
